Using PHREEQC to model cement hydration

This paper presents the steps involved in undertaking an analysis of hydrating cements with different levels limestone powder using PHREEQC geochemical software Notepad++ editor. The begins determining which solid phases are thermodynamically predicted to precipitate and form oxide compositions commercial CEM I II/A-L cements. When known, is programmed provide predictions phase dissolution assemblage over time (here, 1000 days hydration) as well pore solution chemistry. Thermodynamics has been successfully applied field cement hydration predict assemblages changes. With appropriate cement-based thermodynamic database, potential be a very powerful tool ongoing development sustainable into future. also discusses work couple HYDCEM model users all-in-one platform undertake complete simulation hydration.
